Case Study

My movie

The genre of our portfolio is horror. We researched different movies that contain the same genre as us. The movie I will be talking about is Birdbox. This is a horror movie that's related to ours because the film creates tension and contains death to scare the audience.

Birdbox

The target audience for this is film is most likely is young adults or teenagers(16-25) that enjoy horror or thriller because they are experiencing new things in life, which means watching thrillers could draw them in giving them a new fear. Birdbox was released on November 14, 2018, worldwide on Netflix. Birdbox is a horror-thriller film directed by Susanne Bier and written by Eric Heisserer, based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Josh Malerman.

The production company of birdbox is Bluegrass Films Chris Morgan Productions and the movie was distributed by Netflix. Netflix has had 45 million views in one week. Even today, Bird Box stands out to be one of the most-watched movies on Netflix. The marketing that was used to advertise their movie was meme marketing. Memes on social media were what got the word out about the movie. Memes were used because around the time Birdbox was released memes on social media were a way of communicating things while still grabbing people's attention easily on Twitter and Instagram. Netflix also produced trailers and teasers on Twitter and Instagram to promote the film. Birdbox also created trends that fans created on multiple social media platforms. One example is the "24-hour birdbox challenge" created by Morgan Adams released on youtube that gained over 1.7 views. This is all of the information that I have gathered through the research of the movie Birdbox.
