Mise-en scene

I've learned from class Mise-en scene means putting on an act or the overall look and feel of the movie/film. Mise-en scene is the one of the most important or is the most important component because when it comes to creating a movie mise en scene has the most important components of a movie including lighting, design, and kinesis. Another reason its one of the most important components of making a movie/film is because without mis-en scene you wouldn't have design, composition ,setting, lighting, costumes and MANY MORE that i'll mention later.


What's mis-en scene?

Mise-en scene is the film phrase for putting on an act/scene. Incase you dont know acting is pretending to be someone your not while playing a character. In film mis-en scene can also mean the overall look or feel of a movie/scene. The feel includes character development, genre, and the story itself. The look is what people see on the set including costumes, makeup, props, setting, decoration and many more. Some might ask what does mise-en scene do? One thing Mise-en scene can do is affect the way we think or feel about the characters and the story. Another thing Misen scene does is allow us to experience a certain time and place. There are two main components of misen scene including design and composition. Mise-en scene is also what you can see and touch
Design

Design is the process by which the look of the setting, props, lighting, costumes, makeup, hairstyle and actors are determined. To put this definition in simpler words its what, where and how things are set up to create a feeling in the viewer. Setting, props, lighting, and actors are the main components of design. Nearly everything in frame was put there on purpose to create a feeling into the viewer. The person responsible for designing the look for a movie is the movie designer.
What's the movie designer in charge of?
-Art -costume design -wardrobe -transportstion
-Makeup -hair styling -greenery
-carpentery -decoration -location
Lighting
Lighting is the direction the direction, quality, source, or colour of the light.The most used type of lighting is Chiaroscuro which is the use of deep gradations and subtle variations of lights and darks in an image.




Lighting can used differently in many to create a feeling into a viewer. For example walking outside around 7;00 will give you a natural bright light coming from the sun. Some ways light can be used is natural or stylized, dim or bright, and warm or cold.

Setting and Props
Setting is where the scene is taking place and props are located in different areas in setting to create a picture that the viewer can understand When creating a movie film makers use a soundstage which is a windowless and soundproof, proffesional, envionrment used to film.There are on set and on location areas used to film.On location is is natural,outside,off set,etc and a "on set" is a realistic set.


Actors
Actor is a person whose profession is acting on the stage, in movies, or on television.Along with actors hairstyles, makeup an costumes follow.Sometimes actors use makeup even boys to create a look that goes along with a character. For example the joker has weirdly designed makeup to show that hes crazy or pennywise to make someone look scarier.Certain actors are better than others reason may very. Some actors could have deeper voices,some may look weird,some may have skills other don't and some actors speak different languages(there are many more reasons i cant name them all).



reflectionWhat i did with this information was make a project called mini photography project. When I made this blog and researched mise-en scene. When i started researching about mis-en scene all i knew about it was that it was about settings,props and how people put on an act. As i researched more and wrote more notes i learned that mise-en scene is more indebt that just settings,props,and how people act.I learned there are two main components in mise-en scene design and compisistion and there are components within them.One thing i dont get about Mise-en scene is what is composition and how does it work.
Where i got my evidence and my work was in Chapter 5 mise-n scene because i took notes from it.
